WASHINGTON Orbital Imaging Corp. (Orbiamge) has signed an agreement to supply up to $6 million worth of imagery to NASAs Stennis Space Center, Miss., from the companys OrbView 4 satellite, Orbimage reported July 23.

The satellite will supply NASA with imagery from its 8-meter hyperspectral camera, which can measure the signature of reflected light from the sun given off by objects on Earth. NASA will use the data to develop environmental monitoring applications as part of its Earth Observations Commercial Applications Program.

OrbView 4 is scheduled for launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., in mid-August aboard a Taurus rocket built by Orbital Sciences Corp. The satellite also will carry a camera capable of producing black and white images with 1-meter resolution, meaning objects 1 meter across or larger can be identified.
